Let's Hear It For The Boys!

My how time flies! I can't believe it's time for a new challenge over at Meljen's Designs, but it is! This week we would like to see projects for the male species! This is a tough one for me; but I do have to say that Melissa has quite a few awfully cute images for guys in the shop. I fell in  love with this one. It's called "Detective Doggy" and you can find him right here.

The DPs are an assortment from my "Treasure Box", as is the gross grain ribbon and button. The sentiment is simply hand written with a Sharpie Ultra fine Tipped marker. as usual I coloured this image with my Copic Markers.
Thanks for stopping by. If you're needing a bit of inspiration check out what the rest of the team came up with right here and I sure do hope I will see your project linked up for this challenge.

Nancy

*** My First Box Card!

I've been seeing all of these beautiful Box Cards on Pinterest and Blogs, so I just had to give one a try. I was surprised at how easy it came together. I will definitely be doing more of them. Here is my first attempt...

Open Box Card

Side View of Flat Box card.
The DP I have had for ages! I fell in love with it when I saw and have been saving it for a "special project" and this one won! The digital image is by Saturated Canary. I coloured her with my Copics. I fussy cut out the image and the little bird that is with it. The bird I attached with a thin strip of clear (stiff) packaging, so it looks like it is just hovering beside this little cutie. The flowers are fabric and I found them at the $ Store! I used a Martha Stewart punch on the edges. The sentiment is just computer generated and then cut out with a Spellbinders' Die. I attached a little wooden bird, that I inked, by the sentiment. A simple jute bow is attached on one of the front sections.
This was a real fun project to do and I know I will definitely be sharing more "Box Cards" with you in the future.
Until next time.
hugs,
Nancy

Happy Spring!

Happy first day of Spring to you all! I've been looking forward to this day for most of the Winter! Now I just need those temperatures to come a bit and awaken all those pretty Spring flowers in my gardens.
Today is also the start of a new challenge over at Meljen's Designs. This week we would like to see cards that are "girly" for our "Girls just wanna have Fun!" challenge. Here's what I came up with...

I went with a more "Victorian" look. I used Meljen's image Rose Bloom and you can find it right here. I printed it out 3 times; once on green card stock, and twice on red card stock. Then I fussy cut out all 3. The entire flower and leaves from the green one and the whole flower head from one red, and  just the ruffly part of the flower from the second red. Then I added some shading with Copics markers and adhered the layers with foam dots to add even more dimension. I used a couple of Spellbinder dies to cut out the flower matting and the fancy border. I attached a double layer of ribbon to the corner and put 6 red pearls on top of it. A simple white feather, a couple of inked and heat embossed wooden hearts and a sentiment complete this Mother's Day card.
I want to thank you for stopping by today and hope that you will skip on over to the Meljen's Challenge blog to check out what the rest of the team came up with and then to enter your own take on this theme.
Have a truly blessed day.
hugs,
Nancy

And the Winner is...

Top o' the morning to you and Happy St.Patrick's Day! Remember to take time to enjoy the rainbow while looking for the treasure at it's end.
Today I'd like to send out Happy Birthday wishes to my Uncle Pat, [who is turning "80" today!] and to my niece, Monica, [who is turning "Sweet 16" today!}. Hope you both have a wonderful day celebrating!
Today I also get to announce the winner of the Meljen's Designs image "Hop Along Bunny", that I used on my card for our recent Meljen's 200th Challenge Celebration Blog Hop. The hop was a lot of fun and a huge success and I really want to thank all of you for making that possible. I thought we'd have a little fun making the draw so I asked my youngest grandson, Zach, to play Leprechaun and pick the winner. I printed out all of the eligible names [and their email addresses], cut them up and put them into this cute little Leprechaun hat.

Zach then reached in and pulled out the winner, who happens to be...
#28 - Fernando Conceicao {Vanessa}!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS VANESSA! I will be sending you an email with your  free image attached. Hope you enjoy working with it and we'd love to see what you create over on the Meljen's Designs FB Club .

hugs,
Nancy

Just a Quick Post

Hope you are having a wonderful Sunday afternoon. This is just a quick post to share with you my attempt at colouring this adorable free image by Mo Manning, given to us simply for joining her new FB Club "Bronte and Bella's Clubhouse". Definitely worth your time to head on over there and checking it out!

Here is a close up of the image.I used Copic Markers.

They even have some very helpful tutorials posted, like: How to colour hair; How to colour skin and How to make your own watermark! ! I tried out the watermark one and created this one using Picmonkey - it's free! It was very easy to do and I am very happy with the results!

A Little More Green

Well, I've started to think that if I keep making cards in green maybe the weather will take the hint and start to warm up a bit! So here is another St. Patrick's Day card!

This card features a couple of images from Meljen's Designs. The "Little Shamrocks" is an oldie but goodie and "Lucky Dog ", one of the new images from Meljen's Designs. Melissa has been inking up a storm, [hopefully not another snow storm! :{ ], and these images are just too cute! You can find these ones and the others right here.
I used a lot of green Christmas DPs from my "Treasure Box". I printed the Little Shamrocks right onto green card stock and then fussy cut them out and inked the edges. I added a bit of faux stitching and a few gem stones, The sentiment is by Mo Manning and it came with Mo's image that I used the other day called "Paddy"
Thanks for stopping by. Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
hugs,
Nancy

Lucky You! Let's See some Green!

Time for a new challenge over at Meljen's Designs and this week we want to see the colour "Green"! For this card I used 2 Meljen's images: "Lucky Duck" and "Irish Blessing". You can find them both here in the MD shop. I used Copics to colour this image. I added a border that I cut, using a Tim Holtz's die, from cork. I also die cut the image, it's matting and the 4 fancy hearts (to make the 4 leaf clover).  A bit of bling was added with green gem stones, glitter glue and a gold paint pen. I added a pretty piece of green gross grain ribbon to brighten up the cork border.
Remember to check out what the rest of the MD team came up with and add your own creation right here on the Meljen's Challenge Blog.

Until next time.

Nancy

*** Happy St. Paddy's Day card ***

One good thing about an unexpected snow day is I get a lot of card making done! Here is one of the cards I was able to do...

The Dps are all from my "Treasure Box". So is the green string I used for the bow! The sentiment is hand written. The "Little Shamrocks" images are by Meljen's Designs. You can find them here. I copied this image onto green card stock, ink distressed the edges and fussy cut them out.  The Irish lad image is by Mo Manning and he is called "Paddy". You can get him from Mo's shop right here. I coloured him with Copics. A few gem stones & some doodling/faux stitching helped to tie this St. Patrick's card together.
Thanks for stopping by and for all of your lovely comments.
hugs,
Nancy

*** A Second Post for Today as a Creative Corner Guest Designer!

Hi again, hope you enjoyed my earlier post with my project for my Meljen's Designs DT Day. I love being a member of the Meljen's Team and Melissa's images are simply wonderful to work with!
This week Meljen's is sponsoring the challenge over at Creative Corner, {which happens to be "Use Buttons"}, and we have been given the privilege of being their Guest Designers! It's always fun to join up with another fun and talented team! Here is what I came up with:

The image is one of Meljen's new ones. It's called: Little Pocket Puppy, and you can find it here in the shop. I used my Copics to colour the image, adding a bit of glitter with a gold paint pen. The DPs are from my "treasure box". I used a Spellbinders' Die to cut out the flowers and the trim around the sentiment, {which was computer generated}. I used some pretty pink buttons, tied with floss, as my flower centers. Lots of ink distressing and faux stitching to bring it all together.
Well, that's it for today, I promise! Hope you will take time to check out all the inspirational projects over at Creative Corner and don't forget about our "Celebration" Challenge and Blog Hop going on over at Meljen's Designs.
Have a Blessed weekend.
hugs,
Nancy

Time to Think Spring!

Good morning to you all! Today I am sharing my Meljen's Designs DT Day Inspiration project with you. It's a Spring-Themed card. I don't know about you but I'm ready for Spring; even if that means a few Spring Showers, because usually that means there will be a pretty rainbow!

The MD image I chose to work with is called " Little Umbrella Boy " and you can find it right here in the Meljen's shop. I coloured it with Copic Markers, then fussy cut it out and adhered it with foam dots to give it some dimension. The "Rainbow" is made of leftover pieces of gross grain ribbon. I added colour co-ordinated buttons at the top of each strip. The fence was cut using a Sizzix die. I hand cut the "Rain Cloud" and hand wrote the sentiment. The "Rain Drops" are teensy weensy gem stones. I added some faux stitching/doodling around the edges of the card and cloud.
Well, that's it for me. I hope you will head on over to the Meljen's Designs Shop and check out all the cute Spring images Melissa has, I'm sure you will find at least one that will brighten your crafting day. Oh and don't forget about our Meljen's Designs Celebration Blog Hop going on right now!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
hugs,
Nancy

So are you ready to see what I've come up with? Here it is...

Since I live in Ontario, Canada and we have had so much snow this year I decided to "Celebrate Spring"! I know it is still a couple weeks away, but I am so looking forward to the warmer weather and I thought a pretty card might encourage it to come a bit sooner! For this card I actually worked with 2 Meljen's Design images: "Spring Sunflowers Word Art" and "Hop Along Bunny", {which is the one you might win if you leave me a comment!}. I used Copic Markers to colour the images with. The Designer Papers are an assortment from my "Treasure Box". I hand cut the banner and hand printed the word "celebrate" using an ultra fine tipped Sharpie marker, which I also used to do all the "faux stitching". Foam pop dots were applied to the banner and flowers to give a bit of dimension to the card.
Well that's it for me. Don't forget to leave me a comment and your email address.
Now it's time for you to hop on over and visit Rae Ann , I'm sure she has something delightful to share with you.
Remember if you get lost along the way just head over to the Meljen's Design Blog and you can get back on track from there.
Hugs
Happy Hopping,
Nancy
